GRES ARAGÓN COMMITS TO PHOTOVOLTAIC POWER

Gres Aragón-Faveker, which specializes in advanced ceramic solutions for architecture and construction, has started up two photovoltaic power generation systems at its plants in Alcañiz and Alcorisa (Aragon) to generate non-fossil fuel clean energy.

With this initiative, the ceramic company is taking one more step in its constant effort to enhance the energy efficiency and environmental impact of its production processes. To do so, it has installed 1,212 kWp of power to supply 25% of the annual electrical demand at its plants.

With these two photovoltaic power systems, the ceramic company will be able to generate a total of 1,870 MWh of power a year for a 374 ton annual decrease in CO2 emissions, thus significantly contributing to the decarbonization of the environment.

The two solar power generation plants occupy a total of 3,000 square meters of rooftop surface and 1,6 ha on the ground. In all, two thousand twenty-four 545 Wp photovoltaic modules were installed.

With this new investment, Gres Aragón-Faveker is taking another step towards decarbonizing its power supply sources. In 2021, the ceramic company started up a new high-tech extrusion manufacturing plant which is now the most advanced factory in the EU.

This plant is designed and conceived for zero waste pursuant to circular economy, high efficiency and high energy yield criteria. It has been able to reduce the emission of 3,500 tons of CO2 per year, thus effectively contributing to environmental improvement.

Gres Aragón-Faveker is closely monitoring all technological advances that may allow it greater photovoltaic capacity to store energy in batteries or with hydrogen generation.

The ceramic company has been developing a major strategy towards a low CO2 emissions industrial model, improved energy efficiency and cost efficiency to enhance its competitiveness. Upon adding the new production plant and the solar power plant, Gres Aragón-Faveker has reduced an overall total of nearly 4,000 annual tons of CO2.
